Design also happens before a piece takes shape... within ideas, explorations, materials, hands, and decisions that shape what eventually finds its way into our spaces. From this perspective, Interno_ 2026 brought together more than 50 design firms from different cities across Mexico in Guadalajara to share processes, spark conversations, and bring the public closer to the stories behind each proposal.
For CARALARGA, being part of this event meant bringing a new piece into the conversation: Puntos y Rayas, presented for the first time during the event and created through an exploration of material, craftsmanship, and visual language.

Looking within design.
Interno_ was born as an invitation to look at what exists behind a finished piece; where the ideas, decisions, processes, and people that make design possible come together. In its 2026 edition, the event set out to open up these processes and create a shared perspective on design in Mexico.
Over two days, the program brought together exhibitions, conversations, workshops, and activations exploring design and the different disciplines involved in shaping the spaces we inhabit.
More than a product exhibition, Interno_ created a space to discover what happens before form: the philosophy, process, vision, and creativity behind each project.
A territory where CARALARGA naturally finds a strong connection with the gathering.
CARALARGA: material, craft, and textile design.
From Querétaro, CARALARGA creates pieces from fibers and materials transformed through hands-on processes and unique techniques. The studio’s work begins by observing the qualities of each material, discovering new possibilities through design and the work of the hands.
With Puntos y Rayas, this exploration takes a new direction.
The piece emerges from a dialogue between CARALARGA’s Recuperado technique and the making of cotton-thread-wrapped spheres, brought together in a composition of lines, volumes, and forms that create its own visual rhythm.
The result is a textile design piece that brings craft into a sculptural and decorative scale, while keeping the presence of the fiber and the handwork behind it clearly visible.

Puntos y Rayas: a language transformed into material.
The inspiration for Puntos y Rayas comes from the geometry and visual language of the Maya numeral system, where dots and lines serve as essential elements for representing quantities.
CARALARGA takes these elements as a starting point for a contemporary interpretation. Spheres, cotton thread, and volumetric forms come together through repetition, rhythm, and balance to create this visual language.
In this way, a system of representation becomes a visual experience.
Cotton takes on movement. Lines become more than just lines. Dots become volume. And what was originally used to communicate numbers becomes, through design, a piece that communicates through material.

Recovering to transform.
One of central elements of the piece is Recuperado technique, a way of working that begins by giving a new possibility to leftover cotton thread from the studio’s own production processes.
The studio brings these remnants back into the creative process, transforming them into elements that take on a different function and visual language.
The result speaks to one of CARALARGA’s ongoing pursuits: finding new forms of expression through materials that are already part of its universe.
Mexican design through different angles.
CARALARGA’s participation in Interno_ is also part of a broader conversation around the present of mexican design.
In this context, the 2nd edition of the event brought together different approaches to interior design, furniture, objects, architecture, materials, and craft.
For CARALARGA, this diversity is also an opportunity to show how textile design can contribute to contemporary spaces from a perspective where mexican identity takes center stage.

A new piece for a new dialogue.
The piece brings together elements that are part of our practice: cotton thread, handcraft techniques, Recuperado, and working with volume. Bringing them together in a new composition.
At the same time, it opens up a different possibility; one where a historical and visual reference can be reinterpreted in the present without losing sight of the value of the material and the hands that transform it.
Interno_ invites us to look inward in order to build outward. For CARALARGA, this exercise means continuing to ask ourselves: what can a fiber do, how can it be recovered and transformed, and how can craft become part of new forms within contemporary design?
Puntos y Rayas is part of that ongoing exploration.
