CARE AND MAINTENANCE

Caralarga pieces are handcrafted decorative textiles made with natural fibers, primarily cotton thread. Due to their artisanal nature, it is essential to follow these care instructions and recommendations to preserve their aesthetics and prolong their lifespan.

COMMON DAMAGES

• Dust accumulation

• Twisted or tangled threads

• Color variation (yellowing from direct sunlight exposure)

• Unpleasant odor if exposed to humidity

IMPORTANT CARE INSTRUCTIONS

UNPACK WITHIN 5 DAYS

The piece must be removed from its packaging within the first five days after delivery. Keeping it stored for longer—especially in humid environments—can cause mold to form on the fibers and result in irreversible damage.

FOR INDOOR USE ONLY

These pieces are designed exclusively for indoor spaces. They should be installed in a well-ventilated area, protected from rain, humidity, and direct sunlight.

AVOID DIRECT SUNLIGHT

Like any natural textile, prolonged exposure to the sun may alter the color of the cotton thread.

KEEP AWAY FROM HEAT SOURCES

Cotton is a flammable material. Avoid placing the piece near candles, fireplaces, halogen lamps, or other sources of heat.

RECOMMENDED MINIMUM HEIGHT

To keep the piece clean and free from contact with mops or brooms, it is recommended to install it at least 10 cm (4 in) above the floor.

AVOID CONSTANT CONTACT

If the piece is within reach of people, minimize direct contact. Frequent friction may alter its shape. In such cases, it is recommended to brush the piece more frequently.

IDEAL ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

The piece should be placed in spaces where humidity levels do not exceed 55%. Installation in bathrooms, terraces, or areas with extreme temperature changes and no environmental control is not recommended.

MAINTENANCE

DO NOT WET

Cotton thread should never be exposed to water. Contact with liquids can alter its stiffness, distort its natural drape, and produce unpleasant odors.

REGULAR SURFACE CLEANING

It is recommended to remove dust using a clean, dry cloth. A vacuum cleaner with a soft nozzle can also be used, ensuring no direct contact with the threads.

BRUSHING

To prevent tangling or twisting, gently brush the piece using a wide-tooth comb or small brush, especially in dry climates or spaces with fluctuating temperatures.

PEST PREVENTION

As natural fibers, they may attract moths or insects. Keep the space clean, well-ventilated, and free of humidity. Do not apply chemical products or insecticides directly to the piece.

TRANSPORT OR REINSTALLATION

Transporting or reinstalling the piece is not recommended. If necessary, protect it carefully with kraft paper or clean cotton sheets. Avoid using plastic materials or fabrics that generate lint or trap moisture.
