Atitlán
In Nahuatl, Atitlán means “between the waters,” alluding to the lake of the same name, located within the caldera of an extinct volcano in Guatemala. Atitlán personifies the fluidity of water through waves and ties that evoke the dance of the waves. The longer ties suggest persistent currents, while the shorter ones suggest the constant flow of the water. Light reflects like flashes on the surface, generating a sense of perpetual movement and capturing the ephemeral essence of the aquatic nature that permeates the piece.
