SPHERE TECHNIQUE
Simple silhouettes formed by papier-mâché spheres and short ties. With these large-format designs, we aim to highlight a minimalist pattern where color isn't always necessary. We explore the versatility of silhouettes with tassels or beans, as well as the diverse sizes and textures of cotton, whether in blank spaces or in the drape of loose thread.
MIXED TECHNIQUE
For our designs in this category, we explore complex patterns composed of tassels, long ties, and color. These elements are applied in a variety of ways, from very random to very precise and exact, ranging from organic and geometric to highly irregular.
BARRELED TECHNIQUE
With a focus on highlighting the beauty of simplicity. These models play with the color, thickness, and movement of the cotton thread to create beautiful contrasts between the cotton spaces and the ties.
BRAIDED AND CORD
A technique we've perfected over nearly 10 years. This process involves days of meticulous brushing and care of each strand to ensure they are perfectly arranged when braiding or wrapping the cord. The result is simple, timeless pieces that capture the dedication and precision of each artisan's work.
REPORPUSED
The beauty of raw cotton in its purest form is evident in these tapestries, where we take advantage of the fiber's natural texture and color to create patterns accentuated by the interplay of light and shadow. This technique emerged from rescuing yarn from the old El Hércules textile factory, as well as scraps from our workshop, giving this material a second life.
GARLANDS
Natural garlands are a tradition that has been preserved by generations in different towns in Mexico to decorate streets and temples during patron saint festivals. These garlands are handmade using the yujas (needles) of the ocote or Moctezuma pine and intertwined with mecate (twine) in a spiral shape. This technique has been the inspiration for these new models, in which we have experimented with cotton scraps recovered from the workshop's production to create the texture of the traditional garlands.
PANELS
The panel technique is constructed from two or more textile planes, generally of different dimensions and depths, which, when overlapped, generate a composition with greater visual richness and a unique pattern.
This layering introduces a three-dimensional perspective to Caralarga's looms, expanding the possibilities of silhouette, form, depth, and scale. Through the interplay of proportions and volumes, dynamic pieces are developed that adorn spaces in unique ways, taking the loom's constructive complexity to a new level.
